Outreach from China’s state media to African counterparts has gained new energy in the run-up to this week’s Belt and Road Forum. China’s state-owned media house China Media Group on Sunday announced the release of a “China-Africa media action initiative about the Belt and Road Initiative” which reportedly has the buy-in of 50 different African media organizations.

While little is known about the initiative, it is likely to include closer cooperation with media outfits across the continent. For example, on Friday, China’s embassy in Accra announced it would provide new capacity-building assistance to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
