Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen headed to the airport early Tuesday morning to greet his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang at 02:00 while his plane refueled in Dhaka on its way to Ethiopia.

The pair went to the VIP lounge for what Chinese authorities called “unofficial talks.” Momen told reporters later that he raised the issue of Bangladesh’s huge trade deficit with China and called on Qin to expedite a duty-free export agreement that has apparently not been fully implemented by the Chinese side.
