As controversy swirls over the role of Chinese lenders in successive Global South debt crises, China is still getting used to its new role as a global financier. 

This was one of the takeaways from a revealing speech by Jin Zhongxia, the Director of the International Department of the People’s Bank of China and a member of the China Finance 40 Forum, an economic think tank.
