A French Government-owned TV Network Published a Racist Political Cartoon About China’s Vaccine Pledge to Africa

CARTOON TRANSLATION: "China promised Africa 1 billion vaccines"/(character): "It's a trap"

It’s remarkable that in 2021, no one in the editorial department at the French television network TV5Monde thought that publishing a political cartoon featuring a black African character with a spear and shield might be considered a bit, well, racist. And, apparently, no one on the broadcaster’s social media team thought so either because they posted it on Twitter!

For the record, TV5Monde is majority-owned by France Télévisions and France Médias Monde, both government broadcasters.
