New Chinese-Financed and Constructed Airport Opens in Southern Nigeria

The governor of the southern Nigerian state of Anambra officially took delivery on Saturday of a new international airport from the China Railway Beijing Engineering Bureau. The project was also wholly financed by Chinese investors.

The project took almost four years, and includes both passenger and cargo facilities, as well as a 3.7km runway capable of handling some of the world’s largest jets. The new airport also has international standard air traffic control systems including some of the most advanced in Nigeria.
