Asia, Latin America Remain Top Destinations For Chinese Vaccines While Shipments to Africa Have Largely Stalled

China crossed the 300 million mark last week for the number of COVID-19 vaccines shipped overseas with more than half going to countries in Asia, according to the latest figures the Beijing-based consultancy Bridge Beijing’s weekly vaccine tracker report.

Chinese vaccine deliveries to countries in Asia surged by almost 16 million doses last week to 162.1 million, while in Africa deliveries edged up by just 1.2 million.

Key Highlights From Bridge’s Weekly Chinese Vaccine Tracker Report

  • DONATIONS VS. DELIVERIES: Chinese vaccine donations continue to make up only a tenth of its total deliveries around the world. As of last week, China donated 25 million jabs to different countries and organizations, and sold 302 million.
  • VACCINE SALES: China now has commitments to sell 792 million doses around the world, a figure that will likely go up rapidly in the months ahead, as China completes its domestic inoculation campaign.
