Beijing is one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas but yesterday it seemed that Kenyan-born trader Walter Ruigu had the entire city all to himself. “There is an eerie feeling over Beijing,” wrote Walter in a LinkedIn post where he reflected on the impact that the coronavirus is having on residents of the Chinese capital. “I took the subway to the Central Business District this morning and what is normally a city of over 20 mn people has essentially become a ghost town.”
Walter is the Managing Director of the Beijing-based China Africa Merchant Advisor is well-known in the African community in China as someone with keen insights on China-Africa economic relations.
