South African President and Chair of the African Union Cyril Ramaphosa issued yet another urgent appeal for the international community to provide immediate debt relief for Africa. “Urgent and collective action is needed there to stave off that crisis and to maintain the invaluable social gains that the continent has made,” implored President Ramaphosa in a column published yesterday in Financial Times.
But if the requests that the president made in the FT sound familiar, that’s because he basically repeated the appeals that he and other African leaders have been making for months, but for so far to no avail.
