It’s been just over two weeks since Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed issued the first call on behalf of African leaders for emergency debt relief. Since then, there hasn’t been much movement on the issue in part because those appeals were broadly targeted at “international lenders.”
The fact essentially no one responded made me think of those personal safety classes where the instructors advise that if you’re attacked on a crowded don’t just cry for help, instead point at a particular individual and say “you… help me!”
