Honduran President Fulfills Campaign Pledge to Dump Taiwan and Establish Diplomatic Ties With China

Xiomara Castro de Zelaya is the president of Honduras.

Taiwan suffered a major diplomatic setback on Wednesday when Honduras became the latest country to abandon ties with the island in favor of relations with China.

President Xiomara Castro announced on her Twitter page that she will make good on the promise she made during last year’s campaign that if elected, she would switch diplomatic allegiances to China.
