Colombian-born conservative Republican U.S. Senator Bernie Moreno delivered a blunt message to Colombian leaders this week when he told them they would have to choose to align with either the U.S. or China.

“It’s a binary choice,” Moreno said in a live stream broadcast on Monday by the Atlantic Council’s Adrienne Arsht Latin America Center. “You’re either going to be an ally of the United States or you’re going to be an ally of China, but you’re not going to be both.”
