WEEK IN REVIEW: China Urges Citizens to Avoid Joining Foreign Wars

The Trump administration indicated that it would postpone a leaders’ summit with African heads of state, which was initially scheduled for next month. The African leaders’ summit would have coincided with the UN General Assembly meeting in September, but White House sources say the government ran out of time to arrange it. It may now be pushed to next spring and take place in Washington, DC, rather than New York. The previous leaders’ summit took place during the Biden administration in 2022, and before that in 2014, under Obama. (THE AFRICA REPORT)

A joint Chinese and Russian naval flotilla embarked on patrols of the Pacific on Wednesday, after completing joint combat drills off the Russian coast. It is the final phase of the Joint Sea 2025 exercises, which focused on realistic combat training, including submarine rescue operations and sea resupply missions under live fire. CCTV on Tuesday reported that the two armies encountered aircraft and ships from third countries during their voyage through the Sea of Japan and the subsequent drills. (SOUTH CHINA MORNING POST)
