China took the unusual step of raising current U.S. trade measures at the United Nations Security Council. Departing from usual convention, China’s envoy to the UN, Fu Cong, repeatedly called out the United States by name, criticizing the “incessant chaos in the international landscape.”
“In the face of the US abuse of tariffs … China rose to the occasion and took decisive countermeasures, not only to safeguard its own legitimate rights and interests, but also to uphold the common interests of the international community,” Fu said.
