China is beaming friendliness to its massive neighbor across the Himalayas following recent high-level meetings between Indian and Chinese officials. The newest was a discussion between Liu Jianchao, the Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, and India’s ambassador to China, Pradeep Kumar Rawat.
Liu, one of China’s most powerful officials, said the thaw in Sino-Indian relations “meets the fundamental interests of the 2.8 billion people of the two countries, corresponds to the common expectations of the Global South and is also in line with the correct direction of history,” according to China’s state newspaper Global Times.
