It took 12 years to build, but work on the Abuja light rail is finally complete. President Bola Tinubu officially commissioned the Chinese-financed and built commuter rail line on Wednesday and announced that rides would be free for all residents in the capital until December.

The $823 million project was largely financed with a loan from the China Exim Bank and built by the state-owned China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation. (REUTERS)
