China Confirms Palestinian Talks Happened, But Won’t Share Any Details

The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that talks between the two largest Palestinian factions, Fatah that governs the West Bank and Hamas which rules the Gaza Strip, did take place in Beijing last week but refused to provide any details on what was discussed.

Spokesperson Lin Jian told reporters on Tuesday that representatives from both sides came to Beijing for an “in-depth and candid dialogue on promoting Palestinian reconciliation” and added that “encouraging progress” was made.
