Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi concluded a two-day visit to Thailand on Monday that included talks with his counterpart Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara and Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin.

Wang’s visit to Bangkok came at a time of heightened tensions in Southeast Asia amid a worsening insurgency just over Thailand’s northern border with Myanmar and in the South China Sea, where Beijing is wrangling with half a dozen countries over territorial disputes.
