China Commits to Palestinian Statehood

China committed to playing ‘a positive role’ in trying to resolve the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian dispute following the meeting on Wednesday between President Xi Jinping and the head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas.

The two signed a bilateral strategic partnership which includes a three-point plan for resolving the conflict. It calls for an independent Palestine, increased developmental and humanitarian assistance and large-scale international meetings aimed at mediating the ongoing conflict.
