China Sends High-Level Envoy to President João Lourenço’s Second Inauguration in Angola

China dispatched Liu Yuxi, the newly-named Special Representative on African Affairs and former ambassador to the African Union, to attend last week’s second inauguration ceremony for President João Lourenço. The two then met later for talks.

Angola remains one of the most important countries for China in Africa today, accounting for approximately one-third of the continent’s outstanding debt to Beijing. It is also a top ten oil supplier.
