The highly-anticipated opening of Nairobi’s largest ever infrastructure project is now just days away and while many will be thrilled that a new expressway is finally opening to traffic, there’s widespread discontent with the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) that built the highway.
Critics are angry about the design of the new 27-kilometer four-lane expressway that will cut through the Central Business District and, in their view, privilege wealthy motorists above while making life difficult for the masses below who either don’t have the right vehicles or can’t afford to pay the tolls.
