Chinese vaccine shipments to Africa increased by 2.4 million since last week to 56.3 million total doses delivered to date. As of this week, Africa accounts for just 8% of China’s total global vaccine distribution, according to Beijing-based consultancy Bridge Beijing’s latest vaccine tracker report.
The pace of Chinese vaccine delivery in Africa has remained steady for much of the past few months averaging between one and three million shipments per week. Since all of the vaccines that China provides to African countries require two doses, the number of people that can be fully inoculated by those jabs is relatively low given the enormous need.
