Digital Media Producer

POSITION: Digital Media Producer


STATUS: Full-Time (20 hours per week)


START DATE: Immediately

TERM: One year


The China Global South Project (CGSP) is an independent, non-partisan, non-profit digital media initiative dedicated to exploring every facet of China’s engagement in Africa and throughout the Global South. CGSP produces daily and weekly editorial content that is distributed across multiple channels to a wide cross-section of high-level international stakeholders focused on the detailed mapping of Chinese global expansion and engagement. This readership includes policymakers, diplomats, journalists, scholars, and students.


CGSP is looking for a talented Digital Media Producer to join our team. The ideal person for this role is someone who is passionate about media production with a proven track record in web media, basic audio/video editing, social media and a bit of graphic design. If that’s you and you love to play with pixels, make great stuff, and work with some really smart people, then this is a fantastic opportunity.

This position is remote, so you’ll have to be able to work independently and be comfortable working under some tight deadlines. And if you’re the kind of person who is open to learning a million new things and taking initiative to get things done, then this is the perfect job.


  • Build web pages on WordPress from CGSP’s daily editorial output in the newsletters and podcasts.
  • Use CGSP’s online map-making tool to create maps that are published in editorial reports.
  • Manage CGSP’s social media channels on X and Facebook in both French and English.
  • Help produce the CGSP French language podcast by conducting research for guests/topics/questions and editing the audio file.
  • Work with the editorial team to produce simple on-camera videos for CGSP’s video portal and YouTube/TikTok/Instagram
  • Collaborate with CGSP editorial team to develop new editorial and multimedia content.


  • Must be bilingual in French and English.
  • Must have prior experience in digital publishing with a basic knowledge of mainstream web publishing tools and trends.
  • Prior experience using WordPress is preferred but not required (open to learning new skills, though, is essential)
  • Must have experience using multimedia software applications for video, audio and image editing.
  • A basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop is required.
  • Experience in managing professional social media channels is strongly preferred but not required.


  • Must have a college degree.
  • Must be available to work full-time.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote office environment with co-workers across several time zones.
  • Ability to comfortably use digital collaboration tools including WhatsApp, Dropbox, and Zoom.
  • Must be able to work fast, handle pressure, and work under tight deadlines.
  • Must be willing to proactively expand their own skill set, and quickly immerse themselves in new fields of knowledge and expertise.
