Muhammad Yunus, the interim leader of Bangladesh, began a four-day visit to China on WednesdayHe will attend the Boao Forum on 26 March and meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on 28 March. A statement from the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka said the talks will cover a range of bilateral issues, including infrastructure and renewable energy.

The visit comes as Bangladesh navigates the rapidly changing relationship between China and India. Yunus has not visited India since taking power. Delhi’s support for Sheikh Hasina, Yunus’s predecessor who was accused of human rights violations and ousted in a revolution last year, has raised tensions. Bangladesh has requested her extradition, but India has not complied.
