Huawei will build a new satellite-based electronic monitoring system along sections of Nigeria’s 5,000-kilometer border in a bid to stem the flow of illegal immigrants and to provide early detection of security threats.
Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola said last week that the Federal Government awarded the Chinese tech giant a contract to build the new surveillance system in the hopes that it will also be deployed at all of the country’s major land border crossings.
