Chinese mobile phone makers are steadily expanding their market share in Latin America where they’re now among the top three brands in some of the region’s largest markets including Mexico, Peru and Chile, according to data from the telecommunications research agency Counterpoint.
LatAm phone shipments surged 41.8% in the first half of the year compared to the same time last year and some Chinese brands like Oppo and Xiaomi received an extra boost from the withdrawal of Huawei from the mobile phone market due to the impact of U.S. sanctions against the Shenzhen-based telecom giant.
