No Quick Fix Ahead For Chinese Debt Relief in Africa Warns Brookings Scholar Yun Sun

It’s been a challenge to follow the progress of China’s debt relief negotiations in Africa, since neither side seems willing to reveal much about the ongoing talks. Yun Sun, a non-resident China scholar at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C. warned in her latest column published on Wednesday that African stakeholders should likely prepare themselves for “a long process of bilateral renegotiations, debt restructuring, and refinancing instead of a rapid, blanket, and comprehensive solution.”
